Our
family began Montebello Ranch All Around Show Horses in 1999 upon
realization that showing paint horses held high regard and values.
Christina and our Mr. Norfleet daughter, Fleets Phoenix, were our first
pair to enter and compete in this arena; they won the 1999 Reserve All
Around 11 and Under for the state of California.
Stephanie and Just Passing Thru
made their debut in 2000 in the competitive 14-18 APHA Youth division,
after showing an impressive eight months and were Number 9 in the Nation
and Third in the State of California!
That same year, our next all around candidate, Just Plain
Rain won the prestigious Junior Working Cow Horse World Championship and
was well on his way to becoming an all around candidate.
In 2001, we campaigned three All
Around Teams, Christina McGurran and Just
Passing Thru (after Stephanie went off to college), Tina McGurran and Im
Original and Just Plain Rain and Ron and Bobbie Emmons of Plymouth,
California. All three teams
won impressive state and national wins: Christina and Just Passing Thru,
Number One in the Nation 13 and Under All Around and Number One in the
State of California and APHA Reserve World Champion All Around Youth. Tina
and Im Original were Number Four in the Nation and Reserve All Around
Champions after showing seven months of showing and finally Just Plain
Rain with Ron and Bobbie Emmons were Number Seven in the Nation and
Reserve All Around Champions for the state of California.
In 2002 Christina and Just Passing Thru,
after limited showing due to their campaign the year before and moving
up into the 14 -18 Youth Division again won the Reserve World Champion All Around,
were Number Five in the Nation and California Champion All Around team!
After the sale of Im Original, we began our
debut into the Futurity
shows and campaigned two horses, the new purchase and future all around
show horse Real Me In and the western pleasure mare Don’t Skip Miss
Zip. Tina showed the two
horses to numerous Non-Pro wins and was undefeated with Real Me In in
the hunter under saddle futurities.
Emmons Show Horses also showed both horses to an impressive
number of wins in the open futurities.
In 2002 Real Me In began his all around showing and with limited
showing ended up Number Thirteen in the Nation and third in the state of
California.
Tina McGurran & Miss Don't
Skip Zip were 2001 Paint Horse Congress Champions. Tina and Miss Don't Skip Zip owned by Dean and Suzie Maldonado earned
numerous Non-Pro Western Pleasure wins and Circuit Championships.
